Vick to remain starter

Vick’s 77.7 passer rating is his lowest since joining the Eagles in 2009.

(SportsData) – Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced after Monday’s 28-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints that Michael Vick will remain the starting quarterback this week against Dallas. Reid reaffirmed the decision to start Vick again on Tuesday, despite the fact that he has turned the ball over 32 times in the last 21 games.

“Michael’s our starter,” Reid told reporters on Monday night. “He did some good things and there were things, I’m sure he told you, that he’d like to have back.”

The low point of Vick’s Monday night performance was an interception by Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson, which was returned 99 yards for a touchdown. While Philadelphia didn’t score a touchdown in five trips to the red zone, Vick did connect with wide receiver DeSean Jackson for a season-long 77-yard scoring strike. Vick finished 22 of 41 for 272 yards, with the aforementioned touchdown and interception.

The four-time Pro Bowler absorbed 12 hits and seven sacks Monday night, evidence that he’s not getting a lot of help from his offensive line. Vick has taken 27 sacks this season.
