Steelers place Miller on IR with torn ACL

Miller’s 39 career receiving touchdowns are the most in Steelers history for a tight end.

(SportsData) – The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they have placed tight end Heath Miller on Injured Reserve with a torn ACL in his right knee. Miller also reportedly sustained damage to his MCL and possibly his PCL in the knee during their Week 16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals that eliminated the team from postseason contention.

He will undergo surgery in the coming weeks to repair the damage and is unlikely to be ready in time for Steelers training camp next summer.

Despite the injury, the 30-year-old Miller turned the best season in his eight-year NFL career. He led the Steelers in receptions with 71 and logged career highs with 816 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The 71 catches were just five short of his career best.

Miller is under contract with the Steelers for the next two seasons.
